The Whisper 175
has a 14-foot rotor diameter providing 175 sq. ft. of swept area. The peak power is 3200 Watts @ 27 mph.
The anchors are secured in concrete. The anchor work had been done prior to the workshop. It is recommended to let the concrete settle for 28 days.
This tower is 70 feet and requires schedule 40 5" pipe. Our group assembled all of the tower sections and measured and cut the guy wires for the anchors.
The gin pole which is used to provide mechanical leverage and lift the tower weighs over 500lbs. As you can see in the pictures below our group had to lift the gin pole into position, connect the guy wires to the tower, and raise the tower.
The tower was lifted one time without the wind turbine installed, to be certain that everything was correct.
Once the tower is raised final adjustments are made to the guy wires to level the tower.
All of the guy wires should have a little bit of slack in the line to allow for movement.
The gin pole for this tower is designed to remain installed after the tower is raised.
