The Whisper 175 and the H40 produce variable voltage variable frequency AC, and require a power conditioning component to charge batteries. The charge controller for the H40 is on the left and the controller for the 175 is on the right in the picture above. This system is uses a 48V battery bank. When the batteries are charged the energy from the wind will be sent into the utility grid using an inverter. The inverter will convert the DC from the batteries into AC in sync with the power grid. There is a resistor bank to load the generator when the batteries are full for off grid applications. This energy could also be used to heat water.
